Parliament House evacuation: Smoke discovered as workers told to get out in Canberra
An evacuation has occurred at Parliament House after smoke was discovered in the building.
Emergency services were called around 9.40am on Thursday, following reports of smoke.
A loud alarm blared throughout the building for around 40 minutes, as reports of the Senate wing being locked down emerged.

The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) told locals that they were responding to a fire, listing the situation on their incident updates page.
ESA told The Nightly that an electrical fault was being investigated, following the discovery of smoke inside the building.
The incident update said the situation was in the west valve room of Parliament House on Capital Hill.
ESA and the AFP said no injures has been reported, and confirmed that they were investigating.
The emergency response followed an already dramatic morning in politics.
Nationals Leader David Littleproud announced on Thursday mourning that the Party was once again splitting for the Coalition, leaving the Liberals while under the leadership of Sussan Ley.
The Opposition Leader issued a statement after the latest divorce for the Coalition, saying as Opposition Leader, she was focused today on the National Day of Mourning.
