Donald Trump announces US-China Nvidia H200 AI chip deal, says Xi Jinping ‘responded positively’

US President Donald Trump says he has spoken with China’s President Xi Jinping to confirm a huge deal for AI chips.
Making the announcement on Truth Social, Mr Trump said President Xi “responded positively” to the new deal, which will see Nvidia’s H200 artificial intelligence chips “approved” for sale to some Chinese customers.
“I have informed President Xi, of China, that the United States will allow NVIDIA to ship its H200 products to approved customers in China, and other Countries, under conditions that allow for continued strong National Security,” Mr Trump wrote.

The US President indicated that 25 per cent of the sales “will be paid to the United States Government”.
“This policy will support American Jobs, strengthen U.S. Manufacturing, and benefit American Taxpayers,” Mr Trump added.
“The Biden Administration forced our Great Companies to spend BILLIONS OF DOLLARS building ‘degraded’ products that nobody wanted, a terrible idea that slowed Innovation, and hurt the American Worker.
“That Era is OVER!
“We will protect National Security, create American Jobs, and keep America’s lead in AI.”
Mr Trump said the Nvidia’s US customers were already moving forward with the company’s “incredible, highly advanced Blackwell chips”, and soon the Rubin chip.
The US President said that the Blackwell and Rubin chip are not part of the new deal with China.
“My Administration will always put America FIRST,” Mr Trump said.
“The Department of Commerce is finalizing the details, and the same approach will apply to AMD, Intel, and other GREAT American Companies.”
