Donald Trump’s new official portrait showcases US President’s dark side and fans ‘dig it’

Is Donald Trump’s outlook on life becoming darker, or is it just his official portraits?
The White House today unveiled a new official portrait of the US President, with fans describing his expression in the photograph as a look that says, “don’t mess with me”.
But there are a few other changes to be noted. The new portrait shows the 47th President in a much darker light, compared to the first image released ahead of his inauguration and his original portrait from his first presidency.

He’s also changed the colour of his tie, now sporting his signature red tie instead of blue, which he wore in his two previous portraits. Chief White House photographer Daniel Torok was the man behind the lens for both photographs.
It’s in stark contrast to Mr Trump’s first official portrait as the 45th President, where he was smiling broadly in bright light, with the American flag clearly visible in the background.
The White House shared a short video on Monday on X of the latest portrait being hung in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, but didn’t allude to why it had been changed, just saying, “new official presidential portrait just dropped”.
Most fans on X have come out in support of Mr Trump’s dark new portrait, with one viewer simply saying they “dig it”.
Another fan replied: “I love it. That look is saying. Don’t mess with me.”
“Looking like a boss,” said one viewer.
“Got the red tie this time! The way it should be!” commented another.
But not all were on board: “I love my President Trump, but not too sure about this picture. I think I would like a nice smile.”

While others decided to make their own adjustments to the photo, one joked that an image of Mr Trump in a taco hat and costume would be the preferred official portrait, while another made Mr Trump a chicken and one X user went it even darker, portraying Mr Trump as the devil, adding horns to his head.
The updated portrait will replace the official photographs of Mr Trump in federal buildings and offices.
