Kamala Harris for President, 2028.

The shock result comes just weeks after a hopeful Ms Harris suffered a dismal loss to Republican pick Donald Trump.

In the race for 270 electoral college votes, Ms Harris only secured 226, with Mr Trump earning an overwhelming majority of 312.

Polls had been tied across Ms Harris’ 107-day election run-up after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election. However, on election day, America turned out in force to elect Mr Trump, returning him to the White House for a second term.

The finding came from the Echelon Insights survey which showed no other politician held a candle to Ms Harris when it came to leading the Democrats into the next election.

Registered voters were asked if the presidential primary was held today, who they would support and Ms Harris was miles ahead.

The vice president held 41 per cent of the support from those surveyed, with the next nearest option being Gavin Newsom who secured 8 per cent.

Notably, 16 per cent of respondents said they were unsure.

Ms Harris has not yet addressed if she plans to run again for the presidency, however, the strong result will surely be a reassuring boost to her confidence.

In her concession speech at her alma mater Howard University, a historically Black college in Washington., Ms Harris said: “While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fuelled this campaign.”

“Sometimes the fight takes a while. That doesn’t mean we won’t win.”

Harris pledged to continue fighting for women’s rights and against gun violence, adding she would continue to “fight for the dignity that all people deserve.”

After the election loss, criticism continued to mount on Mr Biden over his late decision to drop out of the presidential race. Citizens and political commentators said is delay did not allowing Ms Harris the time she needed to win over voters.

The now-outgoing vice president has been notably absent from public events since her election loss.

Mr Biden and Ms Harris were seen together for the first time since the shocking election on Tuesday, November 12 as they observed Veterans Day together by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

The Echelon Insights survey had a poll of 1010 registered US voters and was conducted between November 14 to 18 2024.
