Kristi Noem may have hoped for some quiet, restful weeks after being fired as head of US Homeland Security, but the former Trump insider has been forced to release a statement after a report exposed her husband’s alleged fetish, cross-dressing secret life.

Mrs Noem’s longtime husband, Byron Noem, was at the centre of an investigation by the Daily Mail published on Tuesday US time, which alleged he had taken part in online fetish forums, shared images of himself with fake breasts, and paid large sums of money to speak to models and adult entertainers.

The outlet published images that it claimed were Mr Noem, some showing his face in them. One image showed a person wearing pink, skin-tight clothing, with large balloons shoved under their top to imitate breasts.

Another image, which showed Mr Noem’s face, showed a person with a fake-torso bodysuit with large breasts. Other images the outlet published claimed to show Mr Noem making a kissing face at the camera.

As the story rocked the US, Mrs Noem was forced to speak out over her husband’s alleged lifestyle.

“Ms. Noem is devastated. The family was blindsided by this, and they ask for privacy and prayers at the time,” a spokesperson told the New York Post.

US President Donald Trump even weighed in on the reports, saying, “I feel badly for the family”, adding, “Wow, they confirmed it?” when approached by the Daily Mail.

The couple, who have been married since 1992, have lived a high-profile life in the US for years.

While Mrs Noem entered a political career, one which saw her spend six years as Governor of South Dakota, Mr Noem had a successful career in farming, coaching and insurance.

He launched Noem Insurance, which is understood to have been a very successful business venture.

The Daily Mail reported that Mr Noem had allegedly participated in “bimbofication” in his downtime.

According to Progressive Therapeutic, “Bimbofication can be considered a practice, kink and/or fetish that involves role-playing and transforming oneself into a stereotypical portrayal of a ‘bimbo’.”

Messages the outlet claimed to have obtained, allegedly showed that a string of people were engaging with Mr Noem in exchange for sums of money paid through services like Cash App and PayPal.

In one message published by the outlet, it claimed Mr Noem had written to another person: “You turn me into a girl.”

Some of the funds however allegedly were delayed or did not go through, sparking frustration from those who are alleged to have spoken with Mr Noem.

When contacted by the outlet, Mr Noem did not deny the allegations he had participated in cross-dressing activities online, however, he did deny that he had exposed his wife, the then-head of Homeland Security, to an increased risk of blackmail.
