The new data collated by SEC Newgate has revealed a startling 74 per cent of Victorian residents are unimpressed with the Carroll government’s performance, believing their governance is taking the State in the wrong direction.
The shocking figure is more than double the disapproval rates in both New South Wales and South Australia.

SEC Newgate partner Nick Maher told news.com.au that the fall from grace is the “lowest ever SEC Newgate’s research has recorded”.
“Four years ago, public confidence in the then-Andrews government stood at 52 per cent, that’s now collapsed to 19 per cent,” he said.
“Victoria’s government is seen as the worst performing in the country … Labor replaced Jacinta Allan to turn these perceptions around, but our new research shows things have slipped further under the new leadership of Ben Carroll.”
The poor performance for Victorian Labor is especially worrying as the party prepares for their state election in November.
Among the polled voters, one in three Victorians revealed their biggest priority was the rising crime across the State.
“(This is) higher than any other state, placing it at the centre of this election,” Mr Maher said.
In the new data, 27 per cent of Victorian voters believed the Coalition would do the best job at managing crime and the safety of the community.
19 per cent of voters said One Nation would be the best party to tackle the rising crime rates.
The second most concerning issue among Victorian voters related to heavy burdens on healthcare — with 71 per cent of voters urging candidates in the upcoming election to prioritise ambulance ramping and availability.
Mr Maher said the data shows Mr Carroll has some catching up to do if he wishes to win back voters from disillusioned Victorians.
“Our research suggests Victorians want a reset based on restoring community services within a framework of responsible financial management,” he said.
The data also revealed which state government was the most popular among voters — with 52 per cent of South Australian voters revealing they were content with Mr Malinauskas and the leadership of his SA Labor party.
