Voters set date to elect Scott Morrison's replacement

Voters in the Sydney seat of Cook will head to the polls on April 13 in a by-election to choose a replacement in parliament for Scott Morrison.
The by-election was triggered by the former prime minister’s resignation in February from federal politics after a 16-year career in Canberra.
People in the southern Sydney seat will have until March 18 to finalise their details on the electoral roll.

The Liberal Party has pre-selected consultant Simon Kennedy as their candidate for the seat to replace Mr Morrison.
Labor has yet to pre-select a candidate and there is speculation the party won’t run a candidate in the safe Liberal seat.
The Liberals hold the seat by 12.4 per cent, but did suffer a 6.58 per cent swing against it at the last election, on a two-party preferred basis.
