International pop star Justin Bieber has publicly praised a Sydney man whose heroic act of bravery helped save lives during the deadly terrorist attack at Bondi Beach.

In a livestream broadcasted this week, Bieber described footage of the terrorist attack as “just crazy” and called 43-year-old fruit shop owner Ahmed Al Ahmed a “hero” for running at the gunman and disarming him.

“That guy is a hero though, the guy who disarmed him,” he said.

“It’s crazy, did you see the video!?”

The Canadian singer’s comments come as the nation continues to honour the 43-year-old Syrian-Australian for his incredible bravery during the mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration — an attack which killed 15 people and injured dozens more.

It is believed Mr Al Ahmed, a fruit shop owner, suffered several gunshot wounds during the gunfire and requires numerous surgeries to remove the bullets lodged inside him.

The heartfelt praise from a global celebrity follows widespread praise for Mr Al Ahmed’s actions from political leaders as well as the Australian community.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Chris Minns have hailed Mr Al Ahmed as an example of extraordinary bravery, both visiting him in hospital as he recovers.

A fundraiser established for the father-of-three has raised more than $2 million, supported by tens of thousands of donors — including American investor Bill Ackman.

Australian and international leaders — including former US President Donald Trump and King Charles — have also recognised the fruit shop owner’s courage, with many saying his selfless actions helped prevent further loss of life.

It comes after Former boxing pro Anthony Mundine, and Dib — a current pro who held the IBF featherweight title from 2011 to 2013 and the IBO super-featherweight title in 2008 — stood by Mr Al Ahmed’s side as they posed for a photo with their fists up.
