Billionaire Amazon owner Jeff Bezos is set to launch his Blue Origin New Glenn rocket within hours, after multiple abandoned launches, in a major test for a Mars mission.

The Blue Origin rocket will carry two satellites as it attempts to successfully leave Earth, with the equipment, two planet orbiters, set for a long journey ahead to Mars to collect data.

Mr Bezos’ New Glenn rocket was tested in January, however, this launch marks the first launch with a payload designed for further journey.

The launch has been delayed multiple times in days.

Lift off on Sunday was delayed due to cloud cover. On Wednesday, it was cancelled due to a solar flare and even on Thursday afternoon, just hours ago, launch was delayed for an undisclosed reason.

“Terminal count abort,” Blue Origin said on X, updating onlookers that the launch had been temporarily cancelled.

“The team is investigating.”

Around 15 minutes later, Blue Origin confirmed they would attempt to launch again.

The launch is now set for 3:45PM EST (7.45AM AEDT).

Blue Origin is live-streaming the scheduled launch on X.
