Meta outage: Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp experience worldwide crash

Users are unable to access Facebook, Instagram or Whatsapp.

Worldwide millions of Meta users were unable to access social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp as the tech giant experienced a major crash on Thursday.

Facebook and Instagram were failing to load and had been showing older posts. Threads seems to be recovering, though it sometimes is loading slowly.

“We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps,” Meta said on X.

“We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience.”

DownDetector said they have been experiencing sudden spikes for Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, indicating lot of people around the world have been affected by the outages.

The DownDetector page showed 70,000 reports of issues for Instagram with Facebook exceeding 100,000.

Services are being restored across the platforms and users may need to reset their access on the various platforms.
