Logan McDonald’s wretched grand final history has continued, with the Perth product yanked out of the decider just after half-time as he succumbed to an ankle injury.

In what looms as a disastrous day for the Swans, the West Australian was substituted out of the clash with Brisbane just moments after the main break, with the Lions 46 points in front.

McDonald warmed up during the break, but returned straight to the bench and took no further part.

Braeden Campbell has entered the game.

The move evokes memories of Sydney’s catastrophic call to play an injured Sam Reid instead of McDonald in the 2022 grand final. Reid was also subbed out in the third quarter.

McDonald touched the ball just once in the opening half as Brisbane controlled the game.

He was substituted out of the Swans’ convincing preliminary final win over Port Adelaide eight days ago with the injury.

The tall target then missed Sydney’s training sessions on Monday in Sydney and again on Friday in Melbourne.

More to come.
