Geelong superstar Jeremy Cameron has suffered a serious shoulder injury on a day of carnage for the club in their 13-point loss to the Giants.

After already losing Jack Henry and Tanner Bruhn to game-ending injuries by three-quarter time, the Cats were dealt a crippling blow when Cameron was crunched by Clayton Oliver.

The pair were both hunting a loose ball and collided in a fair but brutal way.

Unfortunately for Cameron, his left shoulder copped the brunt of the impact. He was in immediate discomfort, withering around on the ground in extreme pain.

He was later seen in a wheelchair being helped into an ambulance with a suspected broken collarbone.

It’s the opposite arm that he broke in last year’s grand final.

Cameron had played the entire match in defence in a surprise move by coach Chris Scott.

But despite last year’s Coleman medallist racking 19 possessions and 11 marks down back, the positional switch backfired with the serious injury, combined with the defeat.

The serious injury is the latest chapter to a rollercoaster season for the gun forward.

Cameron has continued to be hampered by his arm throughout the year, managing just two kicks against Brisbane last week in a performance he described as “borderline pathetic”.

He has still shown signs of his brilliance with a 10-goal haul among 39 majors for the year, but his season could be over.

The Cats also lacked a key target up forward with Shannon Neale struggling to have an impact and star Giants defender Sam Taylor intercepting everything in his vacinity.

Geelong led by close to 39 points late in the third term, but it should have more after they wasted countless chances going forward.

Henry was forced off in the second quarter after a knock to the throat, before a heavy third-quarter tackle from Giants midfielder Toby Bedford left Bruhn dazed.

Scott said Cameron, Bruhn and Henry would remain in Sydney.

“They’re getting checked medically,” Scott said.

“You can catastrophise these things. I don’t think we should. I think we should just wait to see what the diagnosis is.

“(Losing three players) was obviously a challenging situation. I didn’t think it was insurmountable, but we just weren’t quite good enough in the end.”

The Giants kicked two goals to reduce the margin to 27 points at the final change and carried that momentum with three quick ones to open the last quarter.

With only two fit players left on the bench, the Cats ran out of legs as the Giants ran riot with seven final-quarter goals.

The result boosts the Giants’ finals hopes as they move up to 11th with an 8-9 record, while Geelong have dropped to eighth.

.Riley Hamilton — in just his second AFL game — kicked two crucial goals in the second half to keep the Giants in the game.

GWS were under siege early and trailed by 18 points at the first break, with Geelong notching 23 forward entries to the home side’s nine.

GWS were able to regain territory and win clearances 25-22 in the second quarter, but had no scoreboard reward for effort and trailed by 25 points at the main break.

As the Cats’ ascendancy continued, Mannagh provided a brilliant highlight when he kicked his third goal despite being “pantsed” by Giants midfielder Ryan Angwin.

GWS forward Jake Stringer, last week’s hero with a career-best seven goals, then hit the scoreboard with his only goal near the end of the third term to kickstart the Giants’ comeback.
