Bailey Smith’s mum has joined in on the jokes about her son’s complicated dating life.

The AFL star shared a solo mirror selfie on Thursday, only for his mum to call him out.

Smith later shared a screenshot of a message from his mother, who appeared to poke fun at the ongoing mirror selfie saga.

“Not the mirror selfies again,” she wrote, followed by three laughing emojis.

Smith shared the exchange with his own followers, appearing to enjoy the joke, writing “nice one mother”.

The cheeky exchange comes just weeks after Smith became the unlikely star of a bizarre social media dating saga involving multiple women, matching outfits and, most importantly, the same mirror.

The Game AFL Finals 2026

Sydney woman Tahlia Thornton sparked the saga when she posted a TikTok claiming she was dating Smith.

The situation quickly escalated after Ms Thornton said she discovered another woman, Mia, had posted a photo with Smith in the exact same location and outfit.

The apparent coincidence was particularly striking because Smith had also been photographed with Ms Thornton in front of the same mirror just hours earlier.

Ms Thornton subsequently shared screenshots and details of the alleged relationship online, claiming Smith had told her he was “planning his future” with her while allegedly making similar promises to other women.

The saga quickly spread across TikTok and Instagram, with users debating whether Smith had actually done anything wrong given there was no indication he was in an exclusive relationship with either woman.

Rather than attempting to shut down the speculation, Smith appeared to embrace the chaos.

He later posted a photo recreating the now-famous mirror selfie, this time alongside St Kilda star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.

Smith also asked his Instagram followers for “date night recs pls”, prompting one follower to suggest he choose somewhere with no mirrors.

“Fair shout,” Smith replied.

His mum’s comment comes a week after fellow AFL star Josh Daicos also took aim at Smith over the mirror selfie saga.

Smith was sitting alongside Daicos at a promotional event when the Collingwood star brought up the controversy in front of a crowd.

“A few mirror selfies from Baz today,” Daicos told the audience, before adding: “He’s been practising lately.”

The comment was enough to send Smith into hiding, with the 25-year-old putting his face in his hands and closing his eyes as Daicos delivered the punchline.

While the dating saga has largely played out across social media, Smith has repeatedly responded to the attention with humour rather than directly addressing every claim.
