Brisbane Lions forward Oscar Allen says move to Queensland ‘worth it’

Former West Coast captain Oscar Allen has declared his move to Queensland “worth it” after winning his first flag with Brisbane.

Allen made headlines in Western Australia in 2025 as he met with rival clubs mid-season and decided to explore free agency with the Eagles in the doldrums of a lengthy rebuild.

He settled on a move to the two-time reigning premiers and was instantly rewarded as the Lions claimed a sensational three-peat with an insane final three minutes to beat Fremantle on Saturday.

Speaking to Channel Seven after collecting his premiership medallion, Allen said making the move from Perth had been “bloody hard”, but he’d do it again “every time”.

“I can’t believe our luck to be a part of this group, it’s just unbelievable,” he said before the chat was cut short by photo commitments.

“It was bloody hard but worth it every time.”

Allen kicked two goals on the day to go with nine disposals and was a valuable presence leading up the ground for Brisbane.

Allen revealed his superstitious side during the week, revealing he had avoided touching West Coast’s 2018 premiership cup as he didn’t play in the team that day after Jeremy McGovern played while injured and had made sure we wouldn’t touch the cup in the lead up to Saturday’s decider

The spearhead had his injury woes again in 2026 but battled back and formed an important part of the Lions’ forward line that experienced two miraculous comebacks in as many games en route to a historic three-peat, matching the club’s immortal legends from 2001, 2002 and 2003.

West Coast received pick three in the draft as compensation for losing Allen.
