The knee setback in Round 1 was the latest challenge in Docherty’s career, having twice battled testicular cancer.

But the Dochertys are celebrating all over again on the eve of the new season following the birth of son Myles on January 24.

The boy is their second child after two-year-old daughter Ruby, who featured in the pregnancy announcement.

The Dochertys announced the pregnancy on the same day he was picked to return from injury in the finals.

Well wishes flowed in from around the footy world following the reveal on Sunday night.

“Congratulations fam! We can’t wait to meet him!” wrote Jessie Murphy, wife of Docherty’s former captain Marc.

“I love you Myles! Congratulations Dochertys xxxxx,” wrote Bella Fisher, wife of Docherty’s ex-teammate Zac.

Fellow former teammate Jack Martin’s wife Britt celebrated: “Boy mum club.”

The Fishers and Martins both recently welcomed their own new arrivals.

The Martin family grew with the birth of Jett in December while the Fishers’ first child Quinn was born around the New Year.

Docherty’s current teammates Blake Acres and Orazio Fantasia became first-time fathers within a day of each other in January.

Acres’ partner Steph gave birth to Hugo on the 14th while Orazio’s wife Mikayla gave birth to Sofia on the 15th.

And now the Blues are toasting again.

“Another addition to the extended Carlton creche,” the club wrote after Docherty’s announcement.

“Welcome to the world, Myles.”
