Channel Seven smashes ratings as Brownlow Medal count draws in more than 3 million viewers

Nick Daicos wasn’t the only one smashing records on Brownlow Medal night, with Seven’s coverage drawing its biggest audience in more than a decade.

As the Collingwood superstar finally grabbed his first Brownlow with his 47 votes, the most ever recorded in a single season, more than 3 million viewers tuned in across Seven and 7plus Sport.

1.63 million tuned into the count itself, while the red carpet coverage had 1.78 million viewers, with TV audiences up more than 11 per cent from last year.

Seven Network Head of AFL and Sport Innovation, Gary O’Keeffe, said the night was a perfect launch for what will be a massive week of football culminating in Saturday’s grand final between Fremantle and Brisbane.

This week will also see the premiere of the feature-length documentary Centimetre Perfect, on Wednesday, honouring the life and career of beloved Australian broadcasting icon Dennis Cometti.

The Front Bar will host its final show of the year with a special grand final edition on Thursday while The Agenda Setters will return tonight from 8:30pm.
