Essendon star Nic Martin sent for scans on injured knee

Essendon star Nic Martin has undergone scans as he faces the prospect of a second knee reconstruction in less than 12 months.
After only rupturing his ACL in July during the Bombers’ defeat to Richmond, Martin injured himself in Essendon’s first week of pre-season training.
The 24-year-old will meet with a surgeon this week to discuss what he does next.

“Nic Martin has undergone scans on his reconstructed knee after slipping at training last week,” an Essendon statement read.
“He will consult with his surgeon in the coming days to determine the best course of action.
“The club will provide an update once Nic has met with the surgeon and the matter has been reviewed by our medical and high-performance team.”
Martin finished second in Essendon’s best-and-fairest in 2024 and was having another outstanding season this year before he was injured.
He has played 83 games for the Bombers since being taken by a supplementary selection ahead of the 2022 season.
