Former Collingwood Magpie Shannon Cox pleads guilty to manslaughter over fatal crash in WA’s Wheatbelt
Former Collingwood player Shannon Cox has pleaded guilty over a fatal crash that killed two close friends in WA’s Wheatbelt.
Cox, 39, appeared in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday via video link from Greenough Regional Prison, and pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.The crash on Brand Hwy in Cooljarloo, 170km north of Perth, just before 9am on June 7 involved a Toyota Prado driven by the former AFL player, a Volvo road train towing two trailers and a Suzuki hatchback carrying Jurien Bay’s Coral Seinor, 83, and Thelma Clausen, 82.
Seinor and Clausen died at the scene.
In the days after the incident, the pair were remembered as community-minded women joined at the hip for more than 40 years.
Cox played 25 games for the Magpies across three seasons from 2007.
Pre-sentence and psychological reports will be prepared ahead of Cox’s sentencing on August 26.
