The Gold Coast Suns have had their Facebook page hacked, with ‘unauthorised’ posts drawing reactions from fans.

The AFL club’s regular programming ended late on Monday night hours after a post about new recruit Daniel Rioli’s fitness heading into their next pre-season game.

It was followed by viral footage of excavators, the penguins from Happy Feet, couches, cars and fruit.

“Metricon Stadium looking better this season,” one fan wrote on the video of the excavators.

Another linked the video to Matt Rowell’s contract talks: “Close enough. Congrats on the extension Rowelly.”

Others seemed more unaware: “And this has what to do with the Suns?”

Gold Coast issued a response on its X (formerly Twitter) page.

“The club is aware of the current issues with its Meta account and is working to rectify the situation,” the Suns said.

“Please note that any post made at this time is unauthorised and we apologise for any inconvenience, harm or offence caused. The club will keep fans up to date.”

Gold Coast’s Instagram account was also unaffected.

The Suns have embarked on a major rebrand since the end of last season, which ended without a finals appearance for the 14th straight year.

A new logo and guernseys were unveiled in November while a pink jumper was announced last week.

“It’s great, I love it ... obviously a little bit different,” new captain Noah Anderson told 7NEWS.

“It might turn some heads but can’t wait to play in it.”

The pink guernsey will be worn as one-off in Gather Round when the Suns take on North Melbourne.

“We’re not steeped in this history of 100 years, 150 years,” Anderson noted.

“(So) we’re kinda in the position to be able to make these changes.”
