Dual Brownlow medallist Lachie Neale has stepped down as Brisbane Lions co-captain following the breakdown of his marriage to wife Jules.

Jules Neale has shared her first update on social media since it was confirmed she and her AFL star husband Lachie Neale were separating.

Jules posted a video of her and her friends crafting around a table with the caption: “This is your sign to get the girls together and manifest your 2026 vibes”.

The vision board featured in the video contained affirmations such as “good things are coming,” “I attract love” and “the love I deserve is on its way”.

Neale, a dual Brownlow medallist, confirmed in a press conference on Friday he would be stepping down as Brisbane Lions co-captain and apologising to his wife and family for letting them down.

“I can confirm that with regret Jules and I have now separated,” he said.

“While I won’t go into specifics I can say that I have let my family down and I apologise for my actions, which have hurt those closest to me. For that I am deeply sorry.”

Neale said he was “extremely disappointed” in his actions and took “full responsibility” for the end of their relationship.

Days before Christmas, Jules posted on Instagram that she had been “betrayed” after reports emerged that the couple were “working through” their issues.

“I want to make it very clear that I am not ‘working through’ anything,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I have been betrayed in the most unimaginable way.

“All I can do now is try to heal and do what’s best for my children.

“Thankyou for the love and support.”

Jules deleted both her husband and her former close friend, influencer Tess Crosley, from her Instagram and has taken photos of the pair down.

She and Neale’s young children, four-year-old Piper and one-year-old Freddie, have reportedly moved home to Perth, where Neale started his AFL career with Fremantle.

At Friday’s press confrence, Neale said his focus was now on “rebuilding trust with Jules and the future wellbeing of our children”.

“I understand as a public figure there is interest in my personal life, however I do ask the privacy of Jules and my children be respected as we work through our new situation and the next chapter of our lives,” he said.

“I’m extremely disappointed in myself and I’ve put plans and measures in place to do the work on myself so that I can be the best version of myself moving forward.”
