Fremantle star Luke Jackson has given an iron clad guarantee that he will remain with the club long term, saying he has no interest in leaving the Dockers.

Speculation has been rife that Jackson was interested in returning to Victoria, with suggestions other clubs think he’d be open to a move and reports of him telling former Melbourne teammates that he’d like to play with them again.

But Jackson said he will be staying with the club and seeing out the contract that has him tied to Fremantle until the end of 2029.

“I definitely will. I love Freo. I love playing at Freo. I always wanted to play here since I was a little kid. I grew up supporting the club. I always remember watching the games. I will definitely be here and love my time here,” Jackson said.

There have also been reports that Jackson is keen to re-negotiate his current contract but he said those discussions would be left to his manager.

He was emphatic when asked about the alleged conversations with former Melbourne teammates about wanting to re-united.

“It’s all rubbish to be honest,” he said.

“We played them a few weeks ago here in Mandurah. I won a premiership with them and have good relationships with them. I’ll obviously give them the time of day. Some of my best mates are in that team. It was good to see them.”

Jackson’s role in the team has been a topic of major discussion given he has shown an ability to dominate in the ruck but spends a lot of time playing as a forward.

Fremantle recruited Jackson to work in tandem with Sean Darcy. That combination has rarely occurred due to Darcy’s battle with injury.

But speaking ahead of his 100th AFL game, Jackson said the pair remained confident that a dual ruck set up was the best thing for the club.

“One hundred per cent. We showed it a few years ago when we were both healthy and had that four or five game winning patch when we were both two of the best players in the team. I’ve definitely got confidence we can do it,” Jackson said.

“I see myself playing everywhere. I think my game can be very flexible and it’s a very exciting thing that we can dip into for years to come. I love being around the ball. I love going up forward and impacting there. It can change every week.”
