Paywise is taking a punt on former West Coast Eagles coach Adam Simpson to help the financial services player kick a few goals as its new brand ambassador.

Simpson will also tackle a business development role the Perth-based company says will see him leverage his “extensive” network to build connections that support the salary packaging and novated leasing specialist’s growth agenda.

The roles will also reunite him with one of his best on-ground performers — and a new recruit at an old arch rival.

“Adam brings with him a legacy of leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence, having played 306 games for North Melbourne before joining West Coast as the team’s head coach in 2014,” Paywise said on Thursday.

“His decade-long coaching career with the Eagles was highlighted by a premiership win in 2018, solidifying his standing in Australia’s football landscape.

“As a brand ambassador, Adam will represent Paywise at industry events, charity functions, and key client gatherings. He will also join a line-up of fellow ambassadors that includes his former defender Jeremy McGovern, and new Fremantle recruit, Shai Bolton, among others.”

Paywise was launched in 1989 and now boasts a national client base spanning government, education, mining and finance.

Chief executive Frank Agostino said along with his leadership skills, Simpson would bring a humility that would resonate with members and clients.

“I believe he’ll make a real impact as a brand ambassador, introducing Paywise to those who may be less familiar with novated leasing and salary packaging, while also opening new doors through his extensive network,” Mr Agostino said.

Simpson was unceremoniously dumped as West Coast coach after round 17 of the 2024 season when the team again failed to make it into the top eight for finals.

In 2023, he won just three games and was thumped throughout the season — including by several triple-digit margins.

Simpson said he was excited to join the Paywise team.

“Frank’s leadership, and the high-performance culture he’s developed at Paywise, along with the impact they’re making in the community really stood out to me as a great landing spot post-footy,” he aid.

“It’s great to be involved with an organisation so committed to its people and clients, and I’m looking forward to helping any way I can as a new member of the team.”

Away from AFL, Simpson is a Hungry Jack’s franchisee with three outlets and more than 150 employees.
