Disgraced AFL player agent Ricky Nixon has been arrested over a series of alleged threatening social media posts.

Nixon was arrested outside his Port Melbourne apartment on Thursday morning after allegedly posting threats towards the police on his Facebook account.

7NEWS were on the scene where Nixon pleaded police to be “gentle” as they handcuffed him, saying he had an injured shoulder.

He was taken into custody for questioning about the posts that included threats to kill police.

His defence to police was that he had been hacked.

The 62-year-old was later charged with “intimidate law enforcement officer, make threat to kill and use carriage service to menace”.

He has been bailed to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 4 July.

It’s the latest in a long list of controversy surrounding the former player turned agent.

Nixon played for Carlton, St Kilda and Hawthorn during the 80s and early 90s before becoming a pioneering high-profile player agent in the 1990s, signing the biggest names in the AFL to his Club 10 team.

Since then, he has been involved in many controversies, including having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old schoolgirl, pleading guilty to insulting an ex-partner, and the sale of allegedly fake football memorabilia.

He also was accused of kneeing a police officer while in court facing assault charges.

The 62-year-old is also serving a community corrections order after he was found guilty in June 2024 of unlawful assault and discharging a missile.

Magistrate Vincenzo Caltabiano determined Nixon punched and kicked an Australia Post worker at his Port Melbourne home on March 10, 2022, before throwing a package at him.
