Rory Lobb has unveiled a snappy new look ahead of his latest return to WA to face his former club Fremantle.

The Western Bulldogs key defender tapped into his ‘Lobbster’ nickname with a bold style, carving a red lobster into his bleached follicles.

“Hair art goes bang”, Lobb wrote on Instagram alongside a video of the hairstyle coming to life.

It’s unclear if the 32-year-old will keep the look for Sunday’s return to Optus Stadium - and the video was released on the night of April Fool’s Day - but he’s been no stranger to daring looks in recent times.

Lobb dyed his hair blue just a fortnight ago to help celebrate the Bulldogs’ 100th year celebration in the AFL.

Regardless of his look for Sunday, Lobb is in line to again receive a frosty reception from Dockers fans after copping boos in his two previous trips west since leaving the WA club at the end of 2022.

He was even sledged in alcohol form ahead of his first game against his former club in 2023, with a group of Dockers fans teaming up with Midvale’s Dingo Brewery to brew a batch of ‘Lobster Tears’ beers.

A combination of fixturing, finals and fortune has seen Lobb involved in a swag of Fremantle-Bulldogs clashes over the past two-and-a-half seasons.

Sunday’s match will be Lobb’s seventh Dockers-Dogs fixture in his past 44 AFL games - roughly one in every six games. He hasn’t faced Essendon once in that span.

Lobb booted three goals in his most recent meeting with Fremantle in a 67-point thumping in Melbourne last June, but has since been recast as a defender and could spend time trying to quell the influence of former teammate Josh Treacy this week.
