St Kilda have confirmed Rowan Marshall has requested a trade.

The 30-year-old ruck has not nominated a preferred destination but Geelong loom large after he tried to get to the Cattery last year ahead of Tom De Koning’s arrival at St Kilda.

After signing an enormous deal believed to be worth $1.7m to join the Saints last October, De Koning shared the ruck duties with Marshall in 2026, with St Kilda remaining adamant they see both big men in their future.

But Marshall has officially told the club he wants out, despite having a year left to run on his contract.

“St Kilda ruckman Rowan Marshall has informed the club that he will seek a trade during the upcoming trade period,” the Saints said in a statement.

“Rowan is a highly valued member of the St Kilda Football Club and remains contracted until the end of 2027.

“Marshall has not nominated a preferred destination at this stage, with the club making clear that any trade will need to be in the best interests of the St Kilda Football Club.

“The club will now consider its options ahead of the trade period, which runs from Monday 5 October to Wednesday 14 October.”

Last month, the Saints told contract small forward Liam Henry they would listen to rival offers for him.

Henry, who was drafted by Fremantle with No.9 in 2019, joined the Saints at the end of 2023 after four years at the Dockers.

The 24-year-old has so far failed to fire at St Kilda, managing just 26 games across three seasons as he struggled with injuries and form.

Henry is still contracted until the end of next year, but the Saints refused to guarantee his future during his exit meeting this week.
