St Kilda make eye-watering offer to Carlton star Tom De Koning
De Koning is arguably the biggest name in the free agent pool this year and has started the season in scintillating fashion to boost his price tag.
The 25-year-old has a healthy offer on the table to stay at the Blues, but the Saints’ offer blows it out of the park.

“What we do know is the St Kilda offer is real. There was a lot of talk about Finn Callaghan, but he didn’t even speak to the coach,” she said.
“Tom De Koning met Ross Lyon before Christmas and the offer is 7-8 years at $1.7m per year.
“He is exactly the player St Kilda need and I reckon now it’s down to Carlton or St Kilda.”
Fellow panellist Kane Cornes was shocked by the offer.
Despite being a big fan of De Koning, he couldn’t comprehend paying a ruckman that much.
“I can’t wrap my head around $1.7m for a ruckman. I love him, but a million bucks is where I’m maxed out,” he said.
“He’s a ruckman. Do you think Fremantle have learned from Luke Jackson ... I kept hearing he can do everything, how influential has Luke Jackson been for Fremantle.
“It’s the same discussion, you can’t pay a ruckman $1.7m.”
Despite Carlton’s winless start to the season, De Koning has starred with an average of 25 touches and 33 hitouts per game.
The Agenda Setters host Craig Hutchison argued that St Kilda’s list is also in better shape than Carlton’s, which will likely sway De Koning’s decision even more.
“De Koning will have more money to go (to Saints) and I think for the first time, St Kilda look closer to a flag than Carlton,” he said as he compared the young players from each side.
