Sydney Swans have issued a blunt response amid rumours a couple of the suspended players want to be traded to other clubs.

Trade rumours erupted last Thursday when it was reported defender Nick Blakey “indicated to associates” that he wants out because of a deterioration in his relationship with the club.

Blakey was stood down alongside Isaac Heeney, James Jordon, Riley Bice and Chad Warner after the five players breached club standards by bringing women back to Melbourne’s Pullman Hotel and drinking into the early hours of August 17.

Sydney coach Dean Cox threw cold water on those rumours this week, saying he has stayed in constant contact with the 26-year-old and Blakey has not told him he wants to leave the club.

Days later, Warner was also caught up in trade rumours when Code sports claimed the star would be moving back home to Western Australia “if not this season then next”.

The outlet said the 25-year-old would be snapped up by the Eagles.

However, Channel Seven football reporter Tom Morris said Sydney Swans came out strong on Wednesday, telling other clubs to back off.

Morris said Sydney told other clubs at a list management briefing in Melbourne on Wednesday that none of the players involved in the controversy are up for trade.

“They would say that at the moment,” Morris added.

“There’s still a bit to play out, and I’ll just keep an eye on what Nick Blakey does, particularly given he’s not too happy with the club.”

It’s unclear when the suspended players will be reintegrated into the team, with Victoria Police still investigating claims of sexual assault made by at least one of the exotic dancers inside the Pullman Hotel room.

No charges have been laid and this masthead is not suggesting any of the players are guilty of any wrongdoing.
