Sydney released a brief statement on Monday morning: “The Sydney Swans can confirm several players were involved in an alleged incident in Melbourne last night.
“The Swans have notified the AFL and relevant authorities and cannot provide further comment at this stage.”

Victoria Police later on Monday confirmed they are investigating a report of a sexual assault in East Melbourne on August 17.
“The incident occurred at a hotel on Wellington Parade in the early hours of the morning,” the statement read.
“The exact circumstances are yet to be established and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.”
Sydney defeated Essendon by 36 points at the MCG on Sunday to lock in second spot on the AFL ladder and loom as one of the most likely premiership contenders this season.
Players were set to return to NSW on Monday ahead of the club’s final home-and-away game of the season against North Melbourne at the SCG on Sunday.
