Tasmania Devils sack inaugural captain Robbie Fox after off-field incident
The former Sydney player failed to meet behavioural standards and has been let go.
Tasmania have parted ways with their inaugural captain Robbie Fox after failing to meet behavioural standards.
A spokesperson for the Devils, who are set to join the AFL in 2028, said the VFL skipper has been let go.
“This decision follows consideration of a range of factors including the future direction of our football program as we continue to prioritise the development of emerging talent,” the Devils said in a statement on Wednesday.

Fox played 105 games for Sydney between 2017 and 2025, including their 2024 and 2022 grand final defeats, before leading the Devils in their first VFL season this year.
The 33-year-old was born in Tasmania and had been considered part of the Devils’ future in a coaching capacity.
The Devils will have one more season in the VFL next year before becoming the AFL’s 19th team in 2028.
They finished fourth on the ladder in 2026 before bombing out of the finals in straight sets with losses to Geelong and Essendon.
