“We do know that Brendon Gale and his team approached John Longmire to become head of football,” Wilson said on Channel 7’s The Agenda Setters.

“My understanding is that (the Longmire) approach was not successful, certainly not at this stage.

“But what I can tell you is that very much on Tasmania and Brendon Gale’s radar is another famous Sydney background man and that is Kinnear Beatson.

“Kinnear Beatson is a veteran recruiter and list manager who worked in the footy industry since the 80s. He worked in the early days of the Brisbane Bears, and then the Brisbane Lions.

“He went to Sydney in the mid 2000s and was renowned for having put together that amazing list that was rarely out of the finals.

“Beatson is no longer the list boss at Sydney. He’s a senior recruiter, and I think he is very much on Tasmania’s radar.

“He will not necessarily be the head of list management, although that is one role they’re looking at for him, but he will be part of a much bigger team.

“And I don’t think, if he says yes, there could be a better appointment.”

Kane Cornes said it was a “pretty important job”.

“Massive job,” Wilson said.

7NEWS chief AFL reporter Mitch Cleary also revealed on Tuesday that Port Adelaide’s list boss Jason Cripps was on Tasmania’s radar.

“It’s my understanding the latest name that the Tassie hierarchy is sounding out for the list boss position is Port Adelaide list manager, Jason Cripps,” Cleary said on The Agenda Setters.

“He has links to Tasmania. He previously played there for the Tasmanian Devils all the way the way back when they were in the VFL, and he will consider this in coming weeks.

“He’s yet to say no. Could be interesting times ahead for the Power with (coach) Ken Hinkley on the way out as well.”

Wilson said there was also good news around Tasmania’s stadium after a “very depressing report” came out last week that was critical about the stadium, saying it faced a cost blowout of hundreds of millions of dollars.

“(That report by Tasmanian Planning Commission) was really criticised heavily by Brendon Gale,” wilson said.

“I think that report will be discredited in the coming days, and Brendon Gale will talk to the club chiefs on Friday and tell them he’s hoping to fast track the stadium as well.

“But I think getting the list together is what we’re all waiting for.”

Cornes asked if Tasmania footy officials were getting anxious about “drama after drama after drama”.

Wilson said they were “far less anxious today than they were a week ago”.
