This isn't Nat Fyfe's farewell tour: Freo back to work ahead of do-or-die Bulldogs clash
There will be no Nat Fyfe farewell tour this week, with Fremantle players adamant their season has plenty more life in it.
The Dockers’ 57-point loss to the Brisbane Lions in Perth on Friday night has put their finals hopes on the brink, with Sunday’s clash against the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium to decide their fate.
Win, and the Dockers are in.

Last year, Fremantle lost their last four games of the season to slump from third to 10th.
This year, the Dockers could drop from fourth to ninth in the space of a fortnight.
Fyfe has announced he will retire at the end of the season, adding extra urgency to Freo’s flag push this year.
But Dockers defender Jordan Clark doesn’t plan on waving goodbye to the 33-year-old this week.
“Our season’s not over. We’re not talking about Fyfe’s last game - we’ve got plenty of footy left in us,” Clark said.
“We’re not a group - and he’s not an individual - that wants it all about him.
“So we don’t really centre our focus around being Fyfe’s farewell tour or anything like that.
“He’s a bloody important part of our team until the end of the year, and we’re going to use every aspect of him until that comes.
“But it’s not a farewell tour or a centre piece around Fyfe at the moment.
“It’s a whole team thing, and he’s on board with that bigger than anyone.”
Fremantle’s implosion against Brisbane means top four is now almost certainly out of the question, and even finishing fifth or sixth to lock in a home final looks beyond them.
It means Fremantle will likely have to win five consecutive games on the road - including this week’s clash with the Bulldogs - if they are to win the 2025 premiership.
The Lions won the flag from fifth last season, and Clark is optimistic the Dockers can give it a red-hot crack no matter where they finish in the top eight.
“I think you can win it from anywhere,” Clark said.
“You’ve just got to get in there, don’t you? And you know, we never talk about being top four, being eighth. We’ll just keep winning.”
Fremantle are set to receive a huge boost with the return of star midfielder Hayden Young.
Young has missed the past two games with an adductor strain, but is expected to be unleashed in the winner-takes-all showdown.
The Bulldogs are riding a four-match winning run, the latest victory being a 94-point demolition of wooden spooners West Coast.
