Police are investigating after a West Coast star was in a car accident in the state’s north at the weekend.

The Eagles said in a statement recruit Tyler Brockman was in a single-vehicle traffic incident in Geraldton early on Saturday morning after attending a funeral for a relative the afternoon prior.

The 21-year-old was not injured, and no other vehicles were involved.

West Coast said they had informed the AFL about the incident and were supporting Brockman.

“The West Coast Eagles have become aware of a traffic accident that occurred in Geraldton early Saturday morning involving Tyler Brockman, who attended a family funeral on Friday afternoon,” the statement read.

“Fortunately, no other vehicle was involved, and no one was injured. This matter is being investigated by the WA Police, and Tyler is fully cooperating.

“Tyler’s personal circumstances are complex, and the club will prioritise his health and wellbeing ahead of any return to playing football.

“The club has informed the AFL regarding this incident, and we await the outcome of the police investigation before making any further comment. The club requests Tyler’s privacy is respected at this time.”

Brockman missed the club’s WAFL clash against East Perth after being dropped from the league side.

The young forward returned to his native state during last season’s trade period after spending three years at Hawthorn.
