Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Treloar suffers another calf injury setback

Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Treloar has injured his calf for the third time in four months and will miss at least another month on the sidelines.
The 2024 AFL All-Australian had been increasing his running load in a rehab program when he suffered the setback.
Treloar’s initial return-to-play timeline in late January was around 8-10 weeks, but was still around a couple of weeks away from a return before the latest complaint.

“Adam Treloar has suffered a fresh calf setback while attempting to increase his loads from his previous strain in order to be AFL-ready,” Cleary said.
“He injured his left and right calves in December and January.
“The 2024 All-Australian looking at a minimum (one) month on the sidelines.”
Treloar has had a history of soft-tissue injuries, but was coming off a career-best season last year.

He averaged over 31 disposals across his 23 games last year and made the All-Australian team for the first time.
Bulldogs doctor Chris Bell said the club is yet to determine a new timeline for Treloar’s injury
“Adam has been building the continuity in his training across the last six weeks following an injury interrupted December and January period,” Bell said.
“Unfortunately, Adam has suffered some calf symptoms following Friday’s training session.”
“This will delay his return-to-play plan, with the Club to confirm his new timeline in coming days.”
Elsewhere at the Kennel, defenders Liam Jones and James O’Donnell remain “likely inclusions” for Friday night’s crucial clash with Carlton, should they get through training on Wednesday.
“Liam Jones has progressed well following his hamstring injury earlier this year,” Bell said.
“He completed a game-like training simulation session on Friday and has pulled up really well.
“If he gets through training this week like I expect, he will return to availability.
“James has recovered well following the operation that he had on his fractured jaw.
“We opted for the conservative decision on the weekend and he didn’t play, but we are optimistic that James will be putting his hand up for selection for this weekend.”
