Young Brisbane Lions fan pelted with food at MCG
The father of a young Brisbane Lions fan who was pelted with nachos at the AFL preliminary final tried to make light of the situation.
A young Brisbane Lions fan allegedly pelted with nachos after Saturday night’s AFL preliminary final says his dad later tried to cheer him up with a joke: “It’s nacho fault.”
The boy and his mother, Rose, said they were left covered in guacamole, salsa and nachos after food was thrown at them as they celebrated Brisbane’s 131-122 win over Hawthorn at the MCG.
Rose said a man appeared angry before the food was hurled towards them from the stands following the match.

“This guy looked really angry and I wasn’t sure what else he was going to do to us when he threw all the food at us,” she told 9News Melbourne.
“We were covered in guacamole and salsa and had nachos dripping off us.”
Her son said he was frightened by the incident.
“I was scared, I don’t understand why anyone would do that,” he said.
“I wish my dad was there to help, but when I was talking to him on the phone, he made a little joke and said it’s nacho fault.”
Neither Rose nor her son suffered physical injuries.
Victoria Police confirmed on Monday it was investigating the incident.
Video shared on social media showed food being thrown from the stands after the match.
The incident came amid separate crowd trouble during the preliminary final, with objects reportedly thrown towards umpires late in the contest.
Brisbane’s victory secured the Lions a third consecutive AFL grand final appearance.
