Past and present players have weighed in heavily after the latest Australian basketball uniform was launched ahead of the Olympics and the feedback has been nothing short of brutal.

The ASICS sporting brand website is carrying images of the strip for the men’s and women’s teams and social media has lit up with reaction to the understated apparel.

Well-known player-manager Daniel Moldovan was the harshest critic of the new uniforms and did not hold back on the designers.

“Let’s just call a spade a spade — yet another embarrassment for a team full of NBA players at the peak of their sport,” said Moldovan, who manages Boomers stars Josh Giddey, Dyson Daniels and Xavier Cooks.

“Our guys are going to be dressed like marathon runners. If the old adage of ‘Look good feel good’ has a modicum of truth to it, then our guys are going to be feeling like trash.

“We are an international laughing stock. Whoever green-lit these marathon runner uniforms for the Boomers and should have their citizenship revoked.

“What the f... is this abomination?”

Oklahoma City Thunder NBA star Josh Giddey let fly with “lol absolute joke” in reference to the uniforms, and Houston Rockets centre Jock Landale said, “Looks like we are off to throw a javelin”.

Former Boomers star Andrew Bogut said the AOC must have “had Stevie Wonder do the uniforms.”

ASICS spruiks the design as having both Indigenous Australian artwork and Japanese design features, with the jerseys made from recycled fabrics.
