Rain ruined the first day of the second and while more rain is forecast, there are hopes we can get some strong patches of cricket today.

Scott Boland didn’t mind that there was only 12.2 overs bowled on the opening day, making a perfect return to the Test team with two wickets in two balls.

Will he be able to cause carnage on day two as South Africa resume at 2-20.

Covers are off!

The covers have come off and they are going to try and inspect the pitch in around 40 minutes.

The wind is helping a lot with conditions but it could also blow in more rain.

Sun’s out!

The sun is shining in Gqeberha and the brooms are out sweeping water off the covers.

The city is known for its wind as well so hopefully that helps as the efforts to get the ground ready ramp up.

Heavy rain

It’s been pelting down in Gqeberha this morning but there has been a break in the rain.

The umpires are wondering around the field but it will take a bit of work to get it up to scratch for play.

Welcome!

We start with bad news.

The rain hasn’t left from yesterday and we will have another delayed start to play.

But there are hopes they can get a session or two.

Stay tuned for updates.
