Sir Don Bradman Baggy Green fetches record price at auction
One of Sir Donald Bradman’s Baggy Green caps has sold at auction for a record sum of $460,000.
The auction concluded on Australia Day and the successful bidder has chosen to remain anonymous, after paying the most in history for a Baggy Green worn by ‘The Don’.
Lloyds Auctions said the Australian collector intends to have the Baggy Green put on public display in a prominent Australian museum.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.The cap was personally gifted by Bradman to fellow Test cricketer S.W. Sohoni of India and had been preserved by the same family for more than 75 years, passing through three generations.
Before this auction it had never been publicly displayed or offered for sale and remained in remarkable condition.
Baggy Green caps from Bradman’s era are rare, with most examples held in institutional collections or tightly held private ownership.
Bradman is widely regarded as the greatest batter in cricket history, and retired in 1948 with a Test batting average of 99.94, despite being dismissed for a second-ball duck in his final Test innings at The Oval in London.
