The Ashes: England security get physical with Channel Seven as tempers fray amid disastrous tour

England looked anything but relaxed as they departed for Adelaide, with their security team getting physical with a Channel Seven camera crew filming their departure.
Staring down the barrel of one of their worst Ashes series defeats, England left for the South Australian capital on Saturday having spent the past four days in the surf and golfing in the idyllic surrounds of Noosa.
However, any notions of a refreshing break seemingly dissipated once they got back to the reality of trying to overturn a 0-2 deficit.

Captain Ben Stokes cut a frustrated figure following their loss at the Gabba and fired a shot at his own team, saying Australia was ‘no place for weak men.’
His message seems to have fired up the team’s security detail, who moved to block cameras from filming their arrival at the airport.

As cameras attempted to follow the team through public airport spaces, they were continually harassed by security, who even pushed past England players to get in front of the cameras.
They then gave the camera operator an arm bar and stared him down as he pushed him away from trying to film the players.

It follows report England security were picking out members of the Gabba crowd to throw out for sledging, and one received a warning for sarcastically cheering Ben Stokes off the ground after he got out.
A Seven Network spokesperson said they would follow up the incident with the England team.
“Earlier today, there was an incident at Brisbane Airport involving a 7NEWS camera operator and a member of the England Cricket team’s travelling party,” they said.
“While conducting routine filming in a public space, the camera operator was physically confronted despite acting respectfully and professionally.
“The safety and wellbeing of our staff is paramount. This matter is being taken seriously and is now being managed through the appropriate channels.”

The same 7NEWS crew has spent the past week covering the England cricket team with nothing but positive engagements, and today, many of the players appeared to be in disbelief in what was unfolding.
Their antics cut a stark contrast to when they landed in Perth, where Ben Stokes and others were happy to talk to the media upon their arrival.
But as tempers fray amongst the group and ravenous England media who called this team the best to tour Australia since 2010, this tour is threatening to go off the rails before it’s even halfway through.
