Australian fan favourite Dan Ricciardo has shared some behind the scenes photos from his final Formula One Grand Prix in Singapore.

Ricciardo was let go by Red Bull Racing in September following a disappointing 2024 campaign, bringing to an end a 14-year-long F1 career.

His final race came in Singapore, where he finished 18th, but managed to clock the fastest lap on a fresh set of tyres.

Three weeks on from that race, Ricciardo shared a series of photos that tugged at the heart strings.

The 35-year-old’s trademark smile was in full view and he even shared a helmet swap with fellow Aussie Oscar Piastri.

The post quickly met with thousands of likes and comments from the motorsport community.

F1 great David Coulthard said, “don’t mind me... just cutting onions.”

The official Australian Grand Prix account added, “I can’t do this today 😭.”

Many fans called were emotionally moved by the post, especially the helmet swap.

“The Aussie helmet swap 🥹,” motosportcom said.

“The helmet swap 😭💔,” another fan added.

“The helmet swap with Oscar, the helmet and gloves folded.....💔 Won’t be the same without you DR 😢 Wishing you all the good things for the future 🍯🦡,” another fan added.

“Oscar & dannyyy ❤️❤️,” another added.

“Daniel😭 we all just stopped crying,” another said.

Ricciardo is staying out of the limelight as Supercars officials make a renewed plea to get the 35-year-old into the Bathurst 1000.

Red Bull have confirmed the Aussie will not attend the United States Grand Prix later this month.

Ricciardo is a popular figure in Austin after living it up in Texas in recent years, and would have been welcomed by organisers and fans even without driving.

American supporters will instead wait and see if Ricciardo moves to IndyCar, while Australians are banking on a Supercars cameo.

Ricciardo has previously spoken of his desire to compete at Mount Panorama — and the door is wide open.

“If Daniel’s listening, we want you to race here,” Supercars chief executive Shane Howard said on Thursday from the Bathurst 1000.

“Wouldn’t that be fantastic? To have someone of Daniel Ricciardo’s quality as a driver.

“He’s got an enormous personality. To have him in one of our cars would be very special.

“We’ve got an open invite to Daniel.”
