Arsenal have signed Spain midfielder Mikel Merino from La Liga side Real Sociedad on a long-term contract.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who played every game for Spain in this year’s European Championship triumph, was reported to have been signed for Stg 31m ($A60 million).

Brighton & Hove Albion have signed left back Ferdi Kadioglu from Turkish side Fenerbahce for 30m euros ($A49m) with an additional five million euros ($A8.2m) in performance-related clauses.

While they strengthened champion Manchester City sold Portugal full back Joao Cancelo to Saudi Arabian champion Al Hilal for 25m euros ($A41m).

Cancelo will join a squad already containing Brazil star Neymar and Portugal teammate Ruben Neves.

The 30-year-old fell out of favour with City manager Pep Guardiola and has had loan spells at Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Liverpool signed Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in a deal that will see him stay at the Spanish team for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old impressed for Georgia at the recent European Championship, helping the country reach the last 16 in its first appearance at a major tournament.

He would appear to be regarded as the long-term replacement for Alisson Becker, the 31-year-old Brazil international who has been at Liverpool since 2018.

Chelsea have agreed a similar deal in signing 19-year-old goalkeeper Mike Penders from Belgian side KRC Genk.

Penders will join the Blues next summer on a contract until 2032. He will remain with Genk in the Belgian top flight for the rest of the season.

Aston Villa forward Samuel Iling Jr has moved to Serie A side Bologna on loan. The 20-year-old former Chelsea youngster joined Villa earlier this summer from Juventus.
