Sam Kerr may be restricted to off-field duties but that won’t stop her from likely stealing the show in Perth, with the star striker set to go on a signing spree ahead of the Matildas’ clash with Slovenia.

Kerr surprised the football public by taking to Instagram to reveal that she had joined the Matildas in Perth despite not being included in new coach Joe Montemurro’s squad as she recovers from her torn ACL.

The homegrown star has kept a relatively low profile since returning to Perth, but she will be front and centre tomorrow with the Matildas, confirming she will be signing autographs before kick-off.

The Tillies will face Slovenia at HBF Park for their first of their four-match series in WA on Thursday, with the match set to begin at 7 pm.

Kerr has not played a competitive match since the end of 2023 after tearing her ACL at a Chelsea training camp in January the following year, but the captain still remains one of the biggest names in the game.

While there is still no timeline for a playing return, Monermurro said earlier this week things were tracking in a “positive way.”

“We’re monitoring that on a day-to-day, week-to-week scenario. She’s on track and we’re working closely with Chelsea to make sure she’s ready for the season going in from there,” he said.

“Everything’s pointing in a positive way and going in the direction we feel that’s right.”
