“It was horribly sad,” Broncos chief executive Dave Donaghy said.
“Our thoughts are with the family right now and of course we will do whatever we can to support them at this difficult time.
“The first responders on the night were remarkable.
“I couldn’t imagine the job they had to do in difficult circumstances.”
To honour the fan, the Broncos are donating a jersey to the family which will reportedly be placed on the man’s coffin.
Queensland Emergency services called the incident — which happened around 7.30pm AEST — a “serious medical event”.
The sad news came on a night where the club was celebrating Adam Reynolds’ 300th game.
Broncos players also wore an all-black jersey to raise funds for the Black Dog Institute in support of mental health.
The Black Dog Institute is a Broncos charity partner, and claims to be the only medical research institute in Australia that investigates mental health “from childhood to adulthood”.
The Institute also helped design the all-black jersey — which received a widespread tick of approval from fans — with the Broncos.
The Broncos won the match 44-14.
