Thieves have ruined the NRL’s appetiser in Las Vegas.

A match at Silverbowl Park between Greece and USA — which was set to feature some grade players from Australia — had to be called off due to “safety” issues.

The problem was due to the lighting after thieves “stole copper” from the light.

The game was supposed to start at 1pm (AEDT) and fans had been promised a live stream of the action.

But two hours later, both teams were still twiddling their thumbs.

Officials had no choice but to call off the match.

“The USA v Greece match has been called off due to player safety caused by lighting issues at Silverbowl Park, Las Vegas,” a statement said.

“The issue was caused by thieves stealing the copper from the light.

“Electricians from Clarke County were unable to rectify the issue.”

Former NRL star — and professional wrestler — Daniel Vidot was one of the players set to feature in the match.

The match was later rescheduled for Friday afternoon local time to avoid any potential lighting issues.
