Son of Matty Johns, Cooper Johns, involved in Sydney car crash after KISS FM radio spot

Cooper Johns has tried to see the lighter side of a near-death experience after he flipped his car in a crash.
The son of NRL great and Fox Sports personality Mathew Johns, and nephew of Immortal Andrew, had just finished his spot on the Kyle and Jackie O show and was on his way from KIISFM’s North Sydney studios to Sydney’s eastern suburbs when disaster struck.
The 25-year-old’s car collided with a taxi, sending his car into the air and ending up on its roof.

“Thanks to everyone for the messages this morning. Scary stuff yesterday, glad to get out unscathed.”
NSW Police said they were not investigating the crash and it would be left to the insurance companies to determine who was at fault.
“My first memory is just feeling the hit of the tyre. The cops told me they had never seen anything like this because (the taxi driver’s) car was not damaged at all,” he told listeners on Thursday.
“He drove off, he was fine. His wheel worked essentially like a skate ramp, I accelerated and then I flipped.”
“I’ve done a 180 (degrees) and I’m sliding along the concrete on my roof. It felt like a movie.”

Johns said in the immediate aftrermath of the crash his concern was for the other driver.
“My first instinct was, did I kill someone? I didn’t know what was happening,” he said.
“I didn’t care what happened to me.”
Johns retired from the NRL last year after a relatively short career, playing less than 20 games for the Storm and Manly from 2020 to 2023 to pursue a career in the media.
