South Sydney Rabbitohs' mascot 'Reggie the Rabbit' has been filmed appearing to shove a young Cronulla Sharks fan on the weekend.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs, Cronulla Sharks and the NRL are investigating after the Rabbitohs mascot ‘Reggie the Rabbit’ was involved in an incident where he was seen to shove a young Sharks supporter.

The Souths mascot has been a favourite of crowds around Australia for decades, but as he left the field at Shark Park in the Sutherland Shire on Saturday afternoon, he was captured on video appearing to prop and push the nine-year-old Sharks supporter who was leaning over fence and speaking to him.

A security official can then be seen moving to separate the pair before the mascot makes his way up the players tunnel.

Reggie the Rabbit’s alter ego is 81-year-old Charlie Gallico who has been a part of the Souths’ operation for many years.

News Corp is reporting Sharks CEO Dino Mezzatesta confirmed an investigation is underway.

“We were made aware of the incident and both us and Souths are investigating,” Mr Mezzatesta said.

“The NRL has also been made aware of what happened.

“I saw something where the mother said the kid was in shock. It’s obviously an unfortunate incident.”
