Manly fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief after superstar fullback Tom Trbojevic turned down overseas interest to ink a new one-year deal that will keep him at the Sea Eagles until at least the end of the 2027 season.

Trbojevic was set to become a free agent on November 1 but is officially off the market after extending his stay for a further 12 months following a turbulent year for the club after skipper Daly Cherry-Evans announced he was leaving.

There were fears Trbojevic could follow him out the door after negotiations dragged on, with the English Super League looming as a possible landing zone given the local junior’s unwillingness to play against the Sea Eagles.

But that’s been put to bed with the new deal, with Trbojevic hoping for a big 2026 season which should result in a lucrative long-term extension beyond 2027.

“I’m so pleased to be staying at Manly for at least another two seasons,” he said.

“This club is such a big part of my life and always will be.

“I want to be the best I can be next season, and that will be my focus over the next few months in pre-season.

“I think the future looks bright here at Manly and it’s great to have my new contract put to bed.”

Sea Eagles chief executive Tony Mestrov was thrilled to get the deal done with the classy fullback who made his fullback in 2015 and has gone on to score 111 tries in his 170 games for the club.

The 29-year-old has had plenty of injury troubles in the past and was even shifted to the centres this season to ease the burden on his body.

But he returned to his favourite position and is keen to remain at fullback where he starred as the 2021 Dally M Medal winner.

“Tom is so well respected by his teammates and fans alike, so it’s wonderful he’s extended his stay here at Manly,” Mestrov said.

“Tom is a natural leader who oozes Manly DNA and one of the best players our game has seen.

“We are all thrilled Turbo will be here for at least another couple of years and I’m excited about what’s ahead for Tom and the team.”
