The Georgia singer brought some hometown vibes to rugby league's night of nights just kilometres from where Angus and Malcolm Young grew up.

Fans are divided over the NRL pre-game entertainment performance from American soul singer Teddy Swims.

Before Melbourne and Brisbane went into battle at Accor Stadium, Swims put on an electric show that lived up to his superstar billing — at least according to most punters.

The global award-winner started his set with a shortened version of Bad Dreams before going straight into The Door — two of his three most streamed songs on Spotify.

Adding a classy Aussie touch to the set, Swims then played a cover of iconic Australian band AC/DC’s classic hit TNT.

Fittingly, Swims performed a stone’s throw from where AC/DC legends Angus and Malcolm Young grew up — and the American singer even gave a shoutout to the legendary Aussie rockers before the show started.

With a quick outfit change, Swims then finished with his biggest hit, Lose Control, which has more than two billion streams on Spotify.

Fans couldn’t help but make the obvious comparison with Snoop Dogg’s performance for the AFL season decider a week earlier.

“Teddy Swims is way better than Snoop Dogg as grand final entertainment, NRL gets their audience better than AFL,” one said.

“NRL finally beat the AFL entertainment. Teddy Swims is fantastic,” another added.

“One of the most popular artists currently and easily one of the best pre match entertainments we’ve ever had,” a third said.

“Being honest, I’d never heard of Teddy Swims or listened to his music until tonight. The man is absolutely top draw. Incredible voice and great performer. What a coup on NRL grand final night,” someone else said.

But not everyone agreed.

“I still don’t know who Teddy Swims is, but the fact he has to do cover songs shows you the AFL once again wins the pre game,” someone said.

“Nah give me Snoop Dogg over Teddy ‘Fred Flintstone’ Swims. No contest,” another added, referencing the leopard-print jacket he wore.

Someone also thought he made a meal of TNT.

“Teddy Swims just butchered AC/DC. Snoop was way better pre-game entertainment,” they said.
