Australian Olympic hero Cam McEvoy and partner Madeline share secret wedding news: ‘Eloped’

Australian Olympic hero Cam McEvoy has sent his famous swimming mates into a spin after sharing a wedding photo overnight.
Typical of McEvoy’s low-key style, he kept things simple.
The Paris Games gold medallist shared one photo of himself kissing his beautiful partner, Madeline, and wrote one word, “eloped”, for a caption.

Past and present swimming legends were all blown away by the news, from Grant Hackett to Ariarne Titmus, from Emma McKeon to Giaan Rooney.
Friends and fans were also buzzing with excitement.

“Love you guys ❤️❤️❤️,” said Titmus, while McKeon and Rooney also passed on their “congratulations”.
Lani Pallister said: “OMG this is so beautiful 😭🥺,” and Hackett wrote: “Wonderful news. ❤️❤️ Congratulations 🙌.”
Shayna Jack wrote: “Congratulations to you both 😍.”
And a fan said: ‘OMG amazing news!! Congratulations to you both ❤️❤️❤️.’
McEvoy stunned the world in last year’s Paris Games when the 30-year-old won gold in the men’s 50m freestyle.
It completed an incredible journey for the swimmer who had been to three previous Olympics and had taken a break from the sport after the Tokyo Games.
After he won that gold, he was asked about his partner, Madeline Bone, on live TV.
Together, they are a high-powered couple with Bone a PhD candidate at Griffith University, specialising in surgery research, and McEvoy (nicknamed The Professor) a physics and maths student who wants to be an astronaut.
McEvoy took a moment before telling the world how much he loved Bone.

He was gushing in his praise for her, explaining how they worked as a team, supported each other, and were uniformed in their approach to life.
“The love is endless ... it’s infinite,” McEvoy said, with raw eloquence and honesty.
The couple got engaged at the end of 2024, also sharing that news to his 150,000 Instagram followers.
“I’ve achieved some pretty big things this year but I think I just achieved my greatest one,” McEvoy said of the engagement.
“What a way to end 2024.”
