Australian surfing legend Mick Fanning has reportedly been rocked by another family tragedy following the death of his brother Edward.

The heartbreaking news follows the loss of the three-time world champion’s older brothers Peter in 2015, and Sean in 1998.

Peter died in his sleep from a health-related condition, while Sean was tragically killed in a car crash in Coolangatta when he was just 17 years old.

The Daily Mail reports Ed Fanning, aged in his 40s, was living and working at a surf tour camp in Madagascar.

Edward’s best mate, Coolangatta bodyboarder Stevie Maher, relayed the sad news on Facebook. He did not share details of what had happened.

“Firstly I want to send my condolences to the Fanning family … mum Liz, dad John, sister Rachel and brother Mick,” Maher posted.

“My heart is broken to hear the passing of my best mate. I enjoyed and had so many amazing times with you Eddie.

“You were in my wedding party, had so many epic times together in Indo and we were just best mates.

“I’m goin’ to miss you Eddie and now you rest in peace.”
