World sporting royalty and Hall of Fame couple Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf won a million-dollar tournament this week, but that wasn’t the biggest cause for celebration in the tennis legends’ household.

Son Jaden has been selected to compete for Germany in his first national team to compete in the the World Baseball Classic in Tuscon, Arizona next month as the 23-year-old minor league pitcher continues to garner attention.

“Agassi is a very tennis last name, of course,” Jaden told WKBN News in Youngstown, Ohio. “The goal is to try to make it a baseball one.”

“I started playing baseball when I was six years old in T-ball,” Agassi, 23, told MLB.com in a phone interview.

“I loved it. I’ve picked up a tennis racquet a good amount, but it was always hard for me to keep that ball in between the lines. I just wanted to hit that thing as far as I could. Baseball had my love since day one.”

Jaden Agassi is a part of a German team looking to qualify for the 2026 World Baseball Classic for the first time in the country’s history.

Germany will face off against China, Colombia and Brazil in a round-robin qualification tournament at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Tucson between March 2 and March 4. Two of the four teams will progress to the finals, to be played in March 2026.

The genetics and competitive spirit instilled in Jaden were on full from show from his parents who enhanced a wonderful week with a win in a big-money pickleball tournament in Las Vegas on Valentine’s Day.

Team Agassi Agassi took on former US Open champion Andy Roddick and Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard for the third annual Pickleball Slam, hosted at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

It wasn’t the first time that Bouchard took on Agassi in pickleball. Ahead of the 2024 US Open, for example, Agassi and Bouchard played at LifeTime New York City for a two-round exhibition match along with other stars like former NBA player Kris Humphries.

At Pickleball Slam 3, Team Agassi was joined by Olympic silver medallist Marty Fish, while Team Roddick featured former world No. 8 John Isner.

After three matches and a tiebreak round, Team Agassi secured a third consecutive victory along with the $US1 million prize that went with it.
